How to Care for Your Yoni Naturally -- A Daily Botanical Practice

We know more about caring for our skin, our hair, and our nails than we know about caring for the most intimate part of our body.
That is not an accident. It is a gap -- in education, in conversation, in the products we were offered and the rituals we were never taught. Most women come to yoni care through a problem: an infection, persistent dryness, irritation after shaving, discomfort during sex. We search for solutions when something goes wrong rather than building a practice that keeps us well.
This post is about the practice. Not a protocol. Not a fix. A daily, botanical, sustainable approach to yoni care that works with the body's natural intelligence rather than against it.
If you are new to this series, start with Part 1 -- What Is a Yoni? The Anatomy of the Feminine Body Explained -- and Part 2 -- The Vaginal Microbiome -- What It Is and Why It Is the Foundation of Yoni Health. Understanding the anatomy and the ecosystem makes this care guide significantly more useful.
The Foundation: What Yoni Care Actually Means
Yoni care is not hygiene management. Hygiene management is what we were sold -- feminine sprays, douches, scented washes that promised to make us smell like something other than ourselves. All of it, as we explored in Part 2, disrupts the very ecosystem that keeps the vaginal environment healthy.
True yoni care is tending. It is the consistent, intentional practice of supporting the external vulvar tissue, maintaining the conditions the vaginal microbiome needs to thrive, and nourishing the body systemically so that the yoni has what she needs from the inside out.
It is two minutes in the morning. It is one glass of something fermented. It is choosing breathable fabric. It is a few drops of Yoni Oil after hair removal. Small, consistent choices made with knowledge and intention.
That is the practice.
External Cleansing -- The Right Way
The vagina does not need to be washed internally. She is self-cleaning and self-regulating. What does need daily care is the external vulvar skin -- the labia, the vestibule, the tissue surrounding the vaginal opening.
Conventional soaps and body washes are formulated for skin with a near-neutral pH. The vulvar skin -- and especially the delicate tissue around the vaginal opening -- requires something significantly more acidic to avoid disrupting the local environment. Using a standard shower gel in this area, even a gentle one, can shift the surface pH enough to cause irritation, dryness, and vulnerability to microbial imbalance over time.
The solution is not to avoid cleansing. It is to cleanse with the right product.

Velour, our botanical feminine wash, is formulated specifically for the pH requirements of the vulvar environment. Plant-based, fragrance-conscious, and gentle enough for daily use, it cleanses the external tissue without stripping the skin barrier or interfering with the vaginal ecosystem just inside. It is the foundation of the external yoni care ritual.
How to use it: Apply a small amount to the external vulvar area during your shower or bath. Cleanse gently with your fingers -- never with a washcloth or loofah, which can introduce bacteria and cause microdermabrasion on delicate tissue. Rinse thoroughly. Pat dry.
That is the complete cleansing step. Simple, effective, and respectful of the body's intelligence.

External Moisture and Botanical Nourishment
After cleansing, the external vulvar tissue benefits from moisture and botanical support -- in the same way the skin on our face benefits from a serum or oil after cleansing.
The labia minora and the tissue surrounding the vaginal opening are among the most sensitive skin on the body. They are affected by hormonal fluctuation, friction, dryness, and environmental exposure. In perimenopause and postmenopause, declining estrogen levels cause the vaginal tissue to thin and dry -- a condition called vulvovaginal atrophy that affects comfort, pleasure, and overall yoni health. Even in younger women, hormonal shifts across the menstrual cycle, stress, and daily friction can leave the external tissue dry and sensitized.
Botanical external care addresses this directly.

Yoni Oil by This Wombman is a botanical intimate oil formulated with five plants chosen for their specific benefits to external vulvar tissue:
Rose Petals -- anti-inflammatory, skin-softening, and traditionally associated with feminine vitality and tissue nourishment across multiple herbal traditions.
Rosemary Leaves -- antimicrobial and circulation-supporting, helping maintain a healthy skin environment at the vulvar surface.
Jasmine Flowers -- deeply moisturizing and known in traditional practice for supporting the emotional and physical dimensions of feminine embodiment.
Calendula Flowers -- one of the most well-documented botanicals for skin healing, calendula is anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, and exceptionally gentle on sensitive tissue. It is a consistent presence in botanical care for postpartum recovery and skin irritation precisely because it works.
Grape Seed Oil -- the carrier oil base of Yoni Oil, chosen for its lightweight texture, high antioxidant content, and proven benefit to skin barrier integrity. It absorbs without heaviness and supports the skin without clogging.
Together, these five ingredients create a botanical environment at the vulvar surface that supports healing, reduces inflammation, maintains moisture, and nourishes the tissue that daily life depletes.
How to use Yoni Oil:
After cleansing with Velour and patting dry, apply 3 to 5 drops of Yoni Oil to the external vulvar area -- the labia majora, labia minora, and the tissue surrounding the vaginal opening. Massage gently until absorbed. This takes approximately 30 seconds.
That is the complete external care ritual. Velour to cleanse. Yoni Oil to nourish. Two minutes. Every day.

Post-Hair Removal Care -- An Overlooked Part of Yoni Care
Shaving and waxing the vulvar area are among the most common causes of yoni discomfort that most women do not connect to yoni care.
Hair removal in this area disrupts the skin barrier. It removes the physical protection that pubic hair provides, opens hair follicles temporarily to bacteria, creates micro-abrasions on the skin surface, and leaves the tissue inflamed and vulnerable -- particularly when conventional shaving products or post-wax care are used.
The result is familiar: razor bumps, ingrown hairs, redness, itching, and heightened sensitivity in the days following hair removal. Many women manage this with nothing at all, or with products not formulated for this environment.
Applying Yoni Oil immediately after hair removal -- before any redness or irritation develops -- creates a botanical barrier that soothes the skin, supports the follicle environment, reduces the inflammatory response, and helps prevent ingrown hairs. The calendula and rose petals in the formulation do specific work here: anti-inflammatory and skin-healing, they are among the most appropriate botanicals for post-hair removal care anywhere on the body.
Apply generously to the shaved or waxed area immediately after care. Reapply the following morning as part of the daily ritual. The difference is noticeable within 24 hours.
Yoni Care During Perimenopause -- What Changes and Why
Perimenopause brings a cascade of hormonal shifts that affect the yoni directly, and most women are not prepared for them.
As estrogen levels fluctuate and eventually decline, the vaginal lining becomes thinner, less lubricated, and more fragile. The external vulvar tissue loses elasticity and moisture. The vaginal pH often rises as the Lactobacillus population that depends on estrogen to thrive becomes less dominant. The result is a constellation of symptoms -- dryness, irritation, discomfort during sex, increased susceptibility to infection -- that are frequently dismissed as inevitable or simply managed with lubricants at the moment of need.
Botanical daily care does not replace medical treatment when medical treatment is appropriate. But it does provide consistent, targeted external support for tissue that is going through a significant transition. Yoni Oil applied daily provides the moisture and botanical nourishment that perimenopausal tissue is asking for -- before the dryness becomes discomfort, and as a consistent companion to whatever else a woman is doing to support this season of her body.
For women in perimenopause, we also recommend pairing Yoni Oil with our Hormonal Balance Tincture -- formulated to support the body's natural hormonal regulation during times of transition. The external tending and the internal support work together.

Postpartum Yoni Care -- Tending the Body After Birth
The postpartum body deserves as much care as the pregnant body -- and receives far less of it in most wellness conversations.
After vaginal birth, the perineal tissue is healing from stretching, tearing, or episiotomy. The external vulvar area is inflamed, sensitive, and in active recovery. The vaginal microbiome has been significantly disrupted by the birth process, by any antibiotics used during or after delivery, and by the hormonal plunge of the immediate postpartum period.
Yoni Oil is gentle enough for external postpartum perineal care -- applied to the healing external tissue to support recovery, reduce inflammation, and provide botanical nourishment during one of the most significant physical transitions a woman's body goes through. Always consult with your midwife or OB before beginning any postpartum topical care routine.
Internal Nourishment -- Yoni Care from the Inside Out
Everything we apply externally is supported or undermined by what we consume internally. The vaginal microbiome we explored in Part 2 is directly influenced by gut health, diet, stress, and hydration. External botanical care works best when the internal environment is also being tended.
Daily practices that support the vaginal ecosystem from the inside:
Probiotic-rich foods. Kombucha, yogurt with live cultures, kimchi, sauerkraut, and kefir all introduce and support Lactobacillus populations in the gut that directly influence vaginal flora. Our Hibiscus Ginger Kombucha recipe was created specifically for this purpose -- a daily, pleasurable way to support the gut-vaginal microbiome connection. [Get the recipe here.]
Adequate hydration. Vaginal lubrication and tissue health are affected by systemic hydration. Many women experiencing dryness are also chronically under-hydrated.
Reduced refined sugar. Sugar feeds the organisms -- particularly Candida -- that compete with beneficial Lactobacillus in both the gut and vaginal environments. Reducing refined sugar intake is one of the most impactful dietary changes for women prone to yeast infections.
Stress management. Chronic stress elevates cortisol, which suppresses immune function and can alter microbial balance. Whatever supports nervous system regulation -- sleep, movement, rest, breath -- also supports the yoni.
The Complete Daily Yoni Care Ritual
This is what the practice looks like when it is fully integrated.
In the shower: Cleanse the external vulva with Velour. Rinse thoroughly. Pat dry.
After the shower: Apply 3 to 5 drops of Yoni Oil to the external vulvar area. Massage gently until absorbed.
With a meal: One glass of probiotic-rich kombucha, or a serving of another fermented food.
Throughout the day: Breathable cotton underwear. Adequate water. One moment of noticing how the body feels -- not to fix anything, simply to listen.
That is it. Two products, two minutes externally. One probiotic-rich food internally. One moment of attention.
This is yoni care as a sustainable practice -- not a reaction to a problem, but a daily act of tending.
